Since January 1, 2018, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln has banned smoking, tobacco use and vaping on university properties.
A student-led initiative from the previous year has shown significant support from students, faculties and staff for more restrictive smoking policies. Thanks to input from the campus community, the policy encourages healthier choices.

Every Husker plays a role in the success of our tobacco-free policies.
If you are comfortable approaching someone who uses tobacco, you are encouraged to inform the individual with respect to the policy and ask them to comply with it. If the individual becomes argumentative, do not escalate the situation – just walk away.
To report a campus location with recurring compliance issues, use the TIPS Incident Reporting System.
