Clinics for Christmas and New Year

Please note that no clinic will be open from December 21 to January 3 due to the Christmas holidays. As our clinics operate twice a week, this means that new clients will not be booked after December 6. After this date, all customers who want to start trying to join us will be scheduled to meet after January 3.

Update information about coronavirus

In light of the national guidance on COVID-19, we now use a telephone-only service and no face-to-face consultations will take place until the next warning.

We can still offer 12-week phone support with e-cigarettes and nicotine replacement therapy sent directly to your door.

Smoking during pregnancy

Quitting smoking during pregnancy is the most effective way to ensure the best start to your baby’s life. Although it is difficult to stop smoking, there is a lot of help in Northamptonshire. Smoking contains more than 4,000 chemicals, many of which can interfere with your baby’s proper growth and increase their risk of developing serious health problems.

The benefits of quitting smoking during pregnancy include:

  • You will reduce the risk of complications during pregnancy and childbirth
  • you will reduce the risk of stillbirth
  • Your baby is less likely to be born prematurely and often has to deal with additional breathing, nutrition and health problems associated with premature birth.
  • you are more likely to have a healthier pregnancy and a healthier baby
  • Your baby is less likely to be underweight
  • You will reduce the risk of crib death, also known as sudden infant death syndrome

Nicotine replacement therapy

Nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) contains only nicotine and does not contain any of the harmful chemicals found in cigarettes, so it is a better choice than continuing to smoke. It helps you by giving you the nicotine you get from smoking.

Although you can get NRT off the counter, we recommend that you get it through a specialist service and combine it with behavioral support. First for Wellbeing can provide you with up to 12 weeks of NRT along with one-on-one behavioral support.
