If you do it with support, your chances of quitting will increase fourfold. There are many free options and you can choose the one that suits you best.

  • The NHS Smokefree site offers exit kits, apps, text messages and emails.
  • Your local pharmacy can give you free smoking cessation tips and help you choose the best products that will help you reduce and quit if you need to. Find your nearest pharmacy.
  • Portsmouth Health Services has trained smoking cessation counselors who can offer free, friendly, non-judgmental support and help you develop an individually tailored smoking cessation plan. They work from all over the city and provide one-on-one meetings, group sessions and clinics.

They offer a free carbon monoxide test and can arrange medications to stop smoking. Expert support is available for pregnant women and those with a mental health condition. In its first year, the Health Service helped 856 people in Portsmouth quit smoking.
